#5 Use I do, We do, You do, How do you know?

This video champions the power of explicit instruction (direct instruction). This is a particularly strong teaching strategy for essential number knowledge. Explicit instruction is sometimes mistakenly seen as the antithesis to teaching for understanding. On the contrary, it can be used to add real strength to the acquisition of concepts as well as procedural fluency; being the wedding glue in the marriage of ‘understanding’ and ‘doing’!
